Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has deepened its collaboration with Tata Communications to drive a comprehensive digital transformation across its global operations. This strategic partnership is set to enhance the production of JLR’s next-generation vehicles, aligning with the company’s Reimagine strategy, and establish a robust connectivity framework for future digital initiatives.
Global Connectivity Enhancement
Tata Communications will implement its cloud-first, software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) technology to interconnect all 128 JLR sites worldwide. This advanced connectivity will link JLR’s headquarters with its manufacturing plants, warehouses, sales centers, data centers, and cloud services, significantly improving supply chain efficiency and security.
Integration of AI and Real-Time Data
The upgraded network will enable JLR to incorporate AI-driven, real-time data capture, monitoring, and analysis into its production lines. This integration aims to enhance manufacturing performance by identifying potential anomalies through predictive risk management, thereby ensuring higher vehicle quality and operational efficiency.
Accelerated Manufacturing Processes
By adopting this digital infrastructure, JLR anticipates a reduction in the time required to upgrade manufacturing processes. The partnership is expected to bolster operational resilience and provide greater agility to meet evolving production demands, resulting in significant cost savings and business benefits through improved scale and security.
Leadership Perspectives
Tony Battle, JLR’s Group Chief Digital and Information Officer, stated, “This is an exciting phase in the digital transformation of our business, leveraging the technologies and capabilities of Tata Communications that will leapfrog our networks into the future.” He emphasized that the cutting-edge connectivity platform will help build the world-class ecosystem needed to deliver modern luxury vehicles and remarkable driving experiences.
Sumeet Walia, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer at Tata Communications, remarked, “JLR is a global hallmark for automotive luxury and innovation. As the industry rapidly evolves, it’s an exciting time to further strengthen our relationship and support its digital transformation strategy. “He highlighted that Tata Communications is deploying a ‘digital fabric’ comprising agile infrastructure, platforms, and managed services to integrate JLR’s systems, workforce, suppliers, stakeholders, and customers globally, ensuring a seamless flow of data across the business ecosystem.
Ongoing Collaboration
This initiative builds upon the longstanding partnership between JLR and Tata Communications. Notably, Tata Communications’ MOVE platform currently supports connected car solutions, powering the infotainment and telematics systems in over 600,000 JLR vehicles across more than 100 markets.
The enhanced collaboration underscores JLR’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to redefine luxury automotive experiences and streamline its manufacturing processes in an increasingly digital landscape.
